International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists
April 9, 2026-August 14, 2026
Location: Elevator Gallery
A new educational exhibit at Hamilton Library celebrates the United Nations designation of 2026 as the International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists. Designed by a multi-state collaboration funded through a USDA Sustainable Agricultural Research & Education grant and brought to UH Mānoa by the College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resilience, the interactive exhibit provides an arts-based approach to public education on the importance of rangelands and ranching/pastoralism at local, regional, and global scales. In focus at the local scale are Hawaiʻi’s rangelands and the ranchers who steward those lands. Viewers will gain awareness and appreciation for the issues that influence rangelands and pastoral communities around the world.
