To Be Seen, To Be Heard: The Stories of Hawaiʻi’s Deaf Community
The Deaf History Museum exhibit celebrates the rich history, achievements, experiences, and contributions of Deaf Native Hawaiians, and the broader Deaf community, that has helped shape life in the islands. By learning about Deaf Hawaiian history, we gain a deeper understanding of the diverse communities that makes Hawaiʻi unique. The Deaf History Museum recognizes and honors the Deaf community as part of Hawaiʻi’s cultural landscape, and enables students to reflect profoundly on how they can create a more inclusive future in their own career paths.
