On November 5, 2021, Dr. Yong-ho Ch’oe, Emeritus Professor of History and CKS member at the University of Hawaii at Manoa has received the Order of Civil Merit Dongbaek Medal, the third highest order of merit from South Korea. The medal was directly delivered to Prof. Choe by the Consul General of Honolulu, Mr. Seok In Hong. The award recognized Dr. Choe’s life-long academic achievements as well as many contributions that he initiated for the Korean Community in Hawaii. In 2019, CKS member Mrs. Duk Hee Lee Murabayashi had received the Order of Civil Merit Moran Medal.
