CJS welcomes Nagaoka students to UHM

The Center for Japanese Studies welcomed university and high school students visiting Honolulu with the Nagaoka International Exchange Association. The visited began with an introduction and chat with CJS Director Mark Levin, followed by a short campus tour led by UHM students in the UHM Japanese Culture Club. After the tour, the students from Nagaoka gave a 20 minute presentation about Nagaoka City and their thoughts on peace. They asked UHM students for feedback on their presentation and their thoughts about peace. Over bento lunch, students discussed their study interests, future plans, and recommendations in Nagaoka and Honolulu.

Thank you very much to the Japan America Society of Hawaiʻi (JASH) and Nagaoka International Exchange Association for coordinating the visit with CJS and providing the cultural exchange opportunity for UHM students studying Japanese language and culture. Mahalo as well to the Nagaoka International Exchange Association for lunch.
