CJS hosted the annual Aichi University Mini-Symposium on March 7, 2024 in Moore Hall 258. This symposium is made possible by the collaboration between Aichi University and the Pacific-Asian Legal Studies Organization at the William S. Richardson School of Law at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa.

The symposium began with a keynote presentation by Joanne Lipman, author of “That’s What She Said: What Men and Women Need to Know About Working Together.” Joanne will be a featured speaker at the upcoming Manoa Better Tomorrow Series on April 17.

Students then presented on topics including Gender Issues Within Japanese Families, Women’s Labor Issues in Japan, and Women in Management Positions.

We were honored to have three esteemed panelists round out the afternoon: Dr. Aya Kimura, Professor of Sociology at UH Mānoa, Ms. Atsuko Toko Fish, founding trustee of the Fish Family Foundation, and Ms. Makoto Messersmith, Attorney at Law and Lecturer at William S. Richardson School of Law. We are appreciative of their time and of the wealth of knoweldge and experience they brought into the discussion.
