The 2021–2022 Chancellor Virginia S. Hinshaw Scholarship in Sustainability is awarded to Kate Crowell. Kate is pursuing a double major in Natural Resources and Environmental Management and Political Science with a minor in Chinese. She plans to leverage her passion for mobilizing communities to improve worldwide environmental conservation efforts. “The climate crisis that we face necessitates an interdisciplinary, global approach. Through my studies I have learned about the environment by examining its relationship to the economy, social equity, and international community, all of which are vital components of environmental policy and tackling this crisis. Following the completion of my undergraduate degrees, I plan on attending law school and pursuing a career in environmental law to ensure these many factors are considered in decision making processes and use my foundations in the sciences to inform policy.” Congratulations, Kate!
The Chancellor Virginia S. Hinshaw Scholarship in Sustainability is given annually to a full-time undergraduate student with demonstrated leadership and scholarly interest in sustainability.
