Agaton Pasion

Bachelor of Arts in Philippine Language and Literature, University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa

Agaton S. Pasion Jr. holds a Bachelor of Arts in Philippine Language and Literature, having recently graduated from the Filipino and Philippine Literature Program at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. He is a genuine product of the program, taking courses as far back as Beginning Filipino 101. He was a member of the Kalayaan Literary Circle and also an Associate Editor for the Katipunan Magazine.

Agaton’s resume also includes an informal theatre background in singing and acting. He is a product of, and has been an Assistant Director for, the T-Shirt Theatre of Kalihi at W.R. Farrington High School, which is the flagship of The Alliance for Drama Education. He has also been in numerous musicals at Diamond Head Theatre.

As a student, Agaton was a member of the Kaagapay Student Support Group that serves to recruit high school students and retain Filipino students who are part of the program. Now, as a faculty member, he is in charge of all recruitment and retention activities for this academic year.

His research interests include Philippine/Filipino American Studies, Cultural Studies, Critical Pedagogy, Critical Mixed Race Studies, and Education.
