We're thrilled to announce that the Department of Indo-Pacific Languages & Literatures is hosting our second annual IPLL, Wea U Goin? celebration in honor of Indo-Pacific Month! This semester-long celebration will feature cultural presentations, exhibits, and engaging talks about the vibrant Indo-Pacific region. We're proud to collaborate with the Timpuyog Organization, Katipunan Club, Vietnamese Club, Samoan Club, and Thai Club as we come together to promote and honor the region's rich Indigenous languages and cultures.
Since its establishment, the IPLL Department has made significant academic and advocative contributions to our university community. There is room for growth, and we are ready for this.
IPLL, Wea U Goin? shines a spotlight on the dedication and hard work that our faculty, professors, and students have poured into their programs, and celebrates how we plan to continue growing together. Through this event, we honor the struggles of our past, acknowledge the challenges we face today, and commit to fighting for our future.
We warmly invite all students—whether you're part of our department or not—to join us in recognizing our 14 language programs. And if your cultural heritage originates from the Indo-Pacific region but isn't currently represented in our offerings, we would like to extend a special welcome to you. Our goal is to grow this department to encompass everyone who has been missing, everyone whose voice has been silenced by colonized education systems. We're creating a space where everyone is welcomed, seen, and celebrated for who they are.
