2026 Indo-Pacific Affairs Internship Recipient

The Center for Indo-Pacific Affairs, the School of Pacific and Asian Studies, the Center for Pacific Islands Studies, and the College of Social Sciences at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa partnered to launch the Indo-Pacific Affairs Internship Program in 2023. The IPAI Program aims to make valuable professional development opportunities more accessible to undergraduate and graduate students from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa.

For Summer 2026, one UH Mānoa student was selected to work with our partner organization Pacific Forum:

Alex Nam will be interning with Pacific Forum during Summer 2026. Alex is pursuing an M.A. in Asian Studies at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa, with a concentration on how state policies impact minority groups in Japan. He is excited to gain experience working in foreign policy and contribute to Pacific Forum’s efforts exploring regional security and encouraging open dialogue. His goal is to pursue a PhD and become a Professor of Political Science, focusing on human rights in Asia.
