With recent global events such as the Ukrainian War, in this new unknown era, the world has witnessed drastic changes in the security environment, including the apparent resurgence of Great Power Politics. On Wednesday, October 8 at 3:00 PM HST, Admiral (ret.) Tomohisa TAKEI joined us to discuss the implications of this new global reality for Japan and other US-allies, especially in the Western Pacific Region. Based on his analysis, he concluded by suggesting the actions that should be taken by Japan, in order to enhance the peace and security in the region.

Admiral (ret.) Tomohisa TAKEI is a retired Admiral of the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) who served as its 32nd Chief of Staff (2014-2016). His distinguished career included numerous command and staff roles within the JMSDF, followed by prestigious post-retirement positions such as fellowships at the U.S. Naval War College and Sasakawa Peace Foundation, and advisory roles with the Japan Institute of International Affairs and the Japan Forum of Strategic Studies. He is also a recipient of several awards, including the French Legion of Honour and multiple U.S. Legions of Merit.
