The University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa’s Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP) is excited to announce that they are hiring a Graduate Assistant, to begin work in late April.

Salary Information: Step 12 – $2,159 mo./ $25,908 annual @ 20 hours per week

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Advise undergraduate students, staff, and faculty on UROP’s Entering Research and Creative Work, Project, and Presentation funding opportunities, ForagerOne, Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE), and available opportunities on- and off-campus. Communicate in person, on the phone, virtually, and via email.
  2. Actively promote UROP to undergraduate students via hosting information sessions, designing and posting flyers, managing social media platforms, meeting with other units on campus, and representing UROP at events.       
  3. Promote faculty-mentored undergraduate research and creative work opportunities on UH Manoa campus by providing programmatic support to undergraduate students.     
  4. Screen Entering Research and Creative Work, Project, and Presentation application submissions for fulfillment of requirements.
  5. Perform data entry, analyze data, and generate reports.
  6. Assist in maintaining the UROP website and paperless application system.
  7. Assist with event planning, vendor and volunteer coordination, communication, logistics, and other event related tasks.
  8. Proactively search for methods to better serve undergraduate students.
  9. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Classified graduate student in good standing.
  2. Excellent interpersonal skills to work with faculty, staff and students.
  3. Ability to work successfully with faculty, staff, and students in a multicultural student services office.
  4. Excellent written and communication skills.
  5. Ability to problem solve and be flexible to learn and take on new tasks.
  6. Demonstrated ability to be organized, detail-oriented, proactive, consistent and accurate.
  7. Proficient in the use of computers and software including Microsoft Office and Google web applications.
  8. Demonstrated ability to be an independent worker.
