About Us

The High-Speed Aerothermodynamics Laboratory in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa, is founded in 2025 by Assistant Professor Hiroshi Ozawa. His expertise in high-speed aerothermodynamics and the novel optical flow diagnostics techniques provides unique research environments to the school. We personnel dedicate to the research activity discovering for “something new” in the real-world. Lab students engage their own research topic with the unique idea and the interdisciplinary broad vision. Our research activities are carried out mainly in experiments using Mach 5.2 Hypersonic Shock Tunnel, Shock Tube, and the novel optical flow diagnostics, with fluid dynamics fundamentals.
