Dr. Kahikina de Silva created this Hawaiian language periodical as space for Hawaiian language speakers and learners to share news, commentary, research, and discussions of Kanaka Maoli history and unity in the native language of our ʻāina. In this way does it strive to continue the tradition of kākau moʻolelo that reached its pinnacle in the Hawaiian language newspapers of the nineteenth century.
