  • Guest Policy Change and Face Mask Requirement

    Aloha Student Housing Residents,
    During this time, all Community Standards and policies still apply. Violations of policy will be documented by staff and addressed via the conduct process.

    GUEST POLICY – revised
    Due to our current COVID-19 circumstances, revisions to the Community Standards related to guests are as follows:
    1. No guests will be allowed in SHS Residence Halls and Apartments.
    Exceptions:
    • a. Residents can host one (1) guest who lives in the same hall or apartment complex.
    • b. If a resident is actively moving out, the resident can have one (1) guest who is actively assisting with the move out.
    2. Residents must obtain the consent of any/all roommate(s) before hosting a guest in their living space. (Sensitivity to concerns related to health and safety must be respected and prioritized.)

    SOCIAL DISTANCING
    In addition, please adhere to the following recommendations on social distancing:
    1. A minimum of six (6) feet between individuals is still the recommendation by the CDC.
    2. Main building entrances: allow others to exit/enter before you approach the door, while keeping at least six (6) feet away.
    3. Community kitchens, laundry rooms: if space does not allow for six (6) feet distance, wait for the other individual(s) to leave the space before entering.
    4. Community lounges and study rooms: these areas are closed. Usage of these spaces or moving of furniture in these spaces is prohibited.
    5. Elevators: only one passenger at a time. Exception is FH elevators which can accommodate two (2) passengers at a time.

    MASKS – new Honolulu law (effective April 20, 2020)
    Mayor Kirk Caldwell signed Emergency Order No. 2020-07 mandating O‘ahu residents wear non-medical grade face coverings while in public to further limit the transmission and spread of coronavirus.

    Beginning April 20, 2020, face coverings should be worn in all public and common areas within Student Housing Services. For residents who do not have face coverings, SHS will provide face masks at the Gateway Community Desk. Face masks have been generously donated by Every1ne for One Hawaii, website: every1nehawaii.com.


  • Mandatory Quarantine for Interisland Travelers

    Student Housing Residents,
    Today Governor Ige expanded the mandatory, 14-day quarantine for air travel to now include all inter-island flights. This means that beginning this Wednesday, April 1 at 12:01 AM, and until April 30, all passengers on inter-island flights arriving in Oʻahu will be required to complete a mandatory, 14-day quarantine upon arrival. Please note the mandatory quarantine for domestic and international arrivals to Oʻahu is already in effect.

    Are you currently living on campus and want to return for Fall 2020 and Spring 2021?
    Then our annual Renewal process is for you! Renewal is your chance to choose where you want to live and renew your housing contract for the 2020 - 2021 academic year before you leave for the summer!

    Eligibility: All current residents who are in good financial standing, must submit a housing application on our website by March 15, 2020 and pull a lottery number on March 31st thru April 3rd to be eligible to participate in the renewal process.

  • Interested in Hall or Room Transfer? (Jan 11, 2020)
    Are you interested in a hall or room transfer? The Spring 2020 open transfer period begins on Tuesday, January 21, 2020 and will continue through Tuesday, February 11, 2020.

    Simply download the form, fill out completely, then submit to the Student Housing Office located at Frear Hall beginning January 21st. NO FORMS WILL BE ACCEPTED VIA EMAIL, UH FILE DROP OR FAX. All transfer requests will be done on a first-come, first-serve basis and is based on space availability.

    All residents must fill out their own individual transfer request form. For residents wanting to transfer with another person or in a group, all completed forms must have identical requests and be submitted together.

    Should your transfer request be accommodated, you will receive a transfer confirmation to your UH email. A move date and time will be scheduled for you and your account will be adjusted accordingly. You will be responsible for paying any rent increases and meal plan charges, resulting from your transfer request.

  • Traffic Advisory - Student Housing and Dole Street (Dec 19, 2019)
    There will be road resurfacing work from the Hale Aloha Cafe to and including the Hale Wainani parking lot between December 23, 2019 and January 10, 2020. Parking stalls in the affected sections will be closed to expedite the resurfacing work. Vehicles cannot be parked in Zone 08 and 21 throughout this time; parked vehicles shall be subject to towing.

    During the closure, students and employees with Zone 08 or Zone 21 permits may park in the Zone 20 or Zone 22 parking structures. Employees with Zone 08 or Zone 21 permits may also park in Zone 18. A map is available on the Commuter Services website: http://manoa.hawaii.edu/commuter/resources/MapFiles/permitzones.pdf

    Housing moped lots by Hale Wainani, Hale Aloha-Mokihana, Hale Aloha-Lokelani, and Hale Noelani will also be closed 24/7 during this time. Alternative "all zone" moped lots are available near the pool, Ching Field, and the tennis courts.

    Additionally, on December 27, 2019 from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., traffic on Dole Street may be subject to contraflow and temporary closures, fronting the Kamakakuokalani Hawaiian Studies Building.

    Please mind all signage, barricades, and flaggers. Those affected by these closures are encouraged to allow for additional transit time during this period.
