David Akana, Interim Director, Student Housing Services

David Akana has been a key member of Student Housing Services since 2014 and currently serves as the Interim Director. In this role, he provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for all university-operated residence halls and apartments. The Director oversees essential functions ranging from housing assignments and facilities management to crisis response and student care. The Director manages a dedicated team of professional and student staff, ensuring that campus housing is more than just a place to sleep, but a place for students can thrive while reaching their academic, community, and personal goals.

Kenny Lopez, PhD, Associate Director, Residential Life

Dr. Kenny Lopez has been with Student Housing Services since 2011, serving in a variety of capacities and most recently as Associate Director for Residential Life. In this role, he oversees the holistic residential experience for students, including move-in and move-out operations, Residential Learning Programs (RLPs), oversight of the Resident Assistant (RA) team, and supervision of live-in Professional Staff. Additionally, Dr. Lopez is involved with the Residential Student Conduct process, Behavioral Intervention, Basic Needs initiatives, and the Counselor In-Residence Program.
