Assistant Residence Director

The Assistant Residence Director is approximated to be a half-time (20) hours per week graduate student fellowship appointment position. The Assistant Residence Director (ARD) is a member of Student Housing Services Residential Life, supervising staff and will be expected to uphold and promote the mission, vision, and values of this organization. Student Housing Services (SHS) is a division of the University of Hawai’i at Mānoa (UHM); Office of Student Affairs (OSA) and is a multifaceted organization involving both internal and external campus stakeholders, such as students, staff, faculty, and parents. The Assistant Residence Director may have responsibilities, under the supervision of a Residence Director (RD) and/or an Assistant Director (AD), in the management of a residential community. The ARDs play a critical role in developing inclusive, welcoming communities which foster personal and academic success while demonstrating an appreciation and understanding of the host culture (Native Hawaiian). Well-qualified applicants will have an understanding of non-traditional work hours within Residential Life as well as maintaining a presence in community.

Community Council

Student leadership opportunities are provided for residents to get involved within their specific communities. While planning programs and serving as community liaisons, Community Council members form bonds, and gain useful leadership skills and experiences. These councils are advised by a member of Student Housing Services.
