Deciding which residence hall is best for you is no easy task. With a wide variety of options to choose from at UH Mānoa, you'll want to take some time to learn more about the communities and room types available.

Housing Options

Freshmen Students

For Student Housing, "Freshman" is defined as a student who is enrolled in their first year at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa and recently graduated high school in the spring of the current year. Once admitted to UH Mānoa, you can apply for Student Housing.

The four Hale Aloha towers are Freshmen Only environments. There are many Residential Learning Programs available for students residing in Hale Aloha, these programs are an excellent opportunity to get to know peers in your field of study and get involved during your first year.

Graduate Students

Graduate students are able to apply for Graduate Housing in the Hale Wainani Apartments. Learn more about Graduate Housing...

Family Housing

Family Housing is available in the Hale Wainani Apartments for students with children, students who are married, or in a domestic partnership. Learn more about Family Housing...

Accessibility

Air Conditioning

Only Frear Hall and Hale Ānuenue have AC units in each room.

AC may be requested as a disability accommodation through KOKUA.

Proximity to class

Most of our residence halls are located across the street from upper campus.


Hale Kahawai & Hale Laulima are located on upper campus, across from Moore Hall.


Hale Ānuenue is located by the athletic complex, and is farther from upper campus than our other communities.
