Congratulations to Prof. Mark McNally on the recent publication of his article, “The Appearance and Disappearance of Ryukyu: The Historical Views of Tō Teikan, Motoori Norinaga, and Ueda Akinari” in Histories 2025, 5(3), 32.

The article explores the intellectual dispute among nineteenth-century scholars Motoori Norinaga and Ueda Akinari concerning their understanding of the Ryukyu Kingdom (today Okinawa Prefecture).
