Hoʻomaikaʻi to Professors Joseph Foukona, John Rosa, and Monica LaBriola (pictured L to R) for their participation in this year’s Center for Pacific Island Studies (CPIS) conference!
The trio were part of the panel on Pacific Islands Studies in the United States along with emeritus professor Craig Severance. Prof. Rosa’s presentation was titled “Pacific Islands Studies in Hawaiʻi and the Continental U.S.: A Brief History,” while Prof. Foukona’s presentation was titled “Reframing the Pacific region as Macronesia.” Prof. LaBriola moderated the panel.
The conference, titled “Continuity & Community,” commemorated the Center’s 75th anniversary at UH Mānoa.
