To help understand where HEPF stands in the current energy environment, we outlined the vision, mission and goals, scope, activities, and organizational structure for initiatives/groups and individual organizations that are engaged in energy policy. We included in our scan the PUC, CA, and Legislature, as they are the policy and regulatory channels for energy in the state and affect the development and integration of the Hawaii’s energy industry. In total, we have identified 29 groups across state and county government, academia, and private non-profit and for-profit sectors. The breadth and diversity within and across these different groups illustrates the complex reality of Hawaii’s current energy environment. It also identifies areas key areas of intersection that will require a concerted effort amongst current energy players, namely that of energy and transportation and energy and agriculture.
