Seunghyun is a fourth-year Ph.D. student at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology. His research interests include corporate governance, ESG, financial reporting, and managerial accounting. In his spare time, he enjoys running, hiking, and outdoor activities.
Derek Christensen
Derek Christensen is a fourth year PhD Candidate at the University of Wisconsin – Madison. His research interests lie at the intersection of financial accounting standards and corporate decision-making. Prior to joining the PhD program, Derek worked in Deloitte’s advisory practice assisting clients implement new accounting standards. In his spare time, Derek enjoys hiking, snow sports, and reading.
Mengdie Deng
Mengdie is a 4th year PhD Candidate at the University of Hong Kong. Her research interests include Corporate Governance, Financial Disclosure, Financial Markets, and ESG. Before joining HKU, she obtained her Master degree in Management from HEC-Paris. In her spare time, she enjoys dancing and outdoor activities.
Jenna El-Khalili
Jenna is a fourth year PhD student at the University of Florida. Her research interests include taxation, tax policy implications, accounting for income taxes and debt contracting. Jenna is a CPA with prior work experience at Crowe LLP and Northern Trust. In her free time she enjoys reading thrillers, making cheese plates, playing the piano, and practicing yoga.
Siqi Fan
Siqi is a fourth-year Ph.D. Candidate at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Her research interests include sustainability accounting, auditing, accounting information systems, and financial accounting. She does not enjoy cooking but she enjoys tasting different foods all over the world.
Yvonne Han
Yvonne is a third-year Ph.D. student at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. Her research interests primarily lie in the intersection of financial reporting and corporate finance. Prior to joining the Ph.D. program, she obtained a bachelor’s degree with honors in Accounting and Finance at the University of Melbourne.
Meng Guo
Meng Guo is a second-year Ph.D. student at Aalto University School of Business. Her research interests include ESG in auditing and regulatory effects on audits. In her spare time, she enjoys travelling, hiking, playing badminton, and playing the piano.
Haomiao He
Haomiao (Holly) He is a fourth-year PhD student at University of California, Irvine. Prior to joining UCI, she obtained the Master in Finance at University of Rochester. Her research interests include capital market research, the economics of accounting regulation, and corporate taxes. In her spare time, she enjoys singing, dancing, and cooking.
Minjae Kim
Minjae is a fourth-year Ph.D. student at The University of Texas at Austin. Prior to joining the Ph.D. program, Minjae worked as an analyst at Analysis Group, an economic consulting firm. His research interests include auditing, litigation, and securities market regulation.
Kitae Kum
Kitae is a 3rd-year Ph.D. candidate at Rutgers University. His research interest is mainly about analyst forecasts. Prior to joining Rutgers Business School, he worked as a manager of the financial department at Samsung Electronics Headquarters for 10 years.
Angie Pae
Angie is a third-year Ph.D. student at the University of Michigan. Her research interests include taxation, information intermediaries, and corporate disclosure. She is a CPA with prior work experience as a tax consultant. In her free time, she enjoys climbing, hiking, and reading.
Hunter Pearson
Hunter Pearson is a third year accounting PhD student at the University of Oregon. His research interests include disclosure, managerial learning from stock prices, and innovation. In his free time, he enjoys reading, two-stepping, and playing ultimate frisbee. He works 13% more efficiently when listening to Taylor Swift.
Furqan Shah
Furqan is a 2nd-year Accounting PhD candidate at Deakin University. Furqan’s research interests include financial reporting, capital markets, and audit research. Currently, Furqan is working as a lecturer and research fellow at Deakin University. He has prior experience as an industry research assistant and senior tutor at the University of Melbourne. Furqan also has industry experience having worked as a management consultant intern with NASDAQ and in auditing and assurance services with a member firm of PwC. In his spare time, he enjoys reading, running, trekking, e-racing, and catching up on Formula 1.
Jacqueline Tan
Jackie is a third-year Ph.D. Candidate at the University of Georgia. Her research interests include ESG, voluntary disclosures, non-GAAP disclosures, and financial reporting quality. Prior to joining UGA, she worked in EY Atlanta’s Forensic & Integrity Services department. She is an avid soccer fan who also enjoys skiing and fishing in her free time.
Yiyuan Wang
Yiyuan is a second-year Ph.D. student at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Her research interests mainly include sell-side analysts, media, and ESG. In her leisure time, Yiyuan enjoys jogging, hiking, and watching anime.
Hanyu (Patrick) Wang
Patrick is a second-year Ph.D. student at Monash University. His research interests include financial reporting, corporate disclosure, and financial analysts. He is also interested in investigating audit issues using archival methods. In his spare time, he enjoys football and travelling.
Fan Wu
Fan is a fourth-year PhD student at Frankfurt School of Finance & Management. His research interest focuses on inter-firm contracting and corporate innovation. In his spare time, he enjoys jogging and swimming.
Benjamin Yang
Ben is a third-year Ph.D. student at the University of Washington. His research interests primarily lie in information processing, corporate social responsibility, and voluntary disclosures. Prior to starting the Ph.D. program, he worked as a tax consultant at Deloitte. In his spare time, he enjoys running and swing dancing.
Zilan Yang
Zilan is a fourth-year Ph.D. student at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. Her research interests reside in the intersection of economics and accounting. Her current work focus on auditing and ESG. In her spare time, she enjoys practicing yoga and kayaking.
Jonathan Yuan
Jonathan is a third year PhD student at the School of Accounting and Finance at the University of Waterloo. Before joining the PhD program, he was a senior accountant at EY and as an internal audit manager at Loblaw Companies Limited. Moreover, he obtained his CPA Ontario designation in 2020. Jonathan’s current research interests focus on standard setting, debt contracting, financial reporting quality and share repurchases.
Martin Zafiryadis
Martin is a second-year Ph.D. student at Copenhagen Business School. His research interest is in the field of empirical financial accounting with a focus on disclosures and human capital. In his free time, Martin enjoys sailing and taking long walks with his dog.
Cindy Zhang
Cindy is a third-year Ph.D. student at MIT Sloan School of Management. Her research interests include ESG disclosures and activities, peer effects, corporate disclosure, and information intermediaries. She enjoys running, baking, and watching football and basketball in her free time.
Katie Zheng
Katie Zheng is a fourth-year Ph.D. student at the Simon Business School, University of Rochester. Prior to joining Simon Business School, she worked as a Risk Assurance Associate and Digital Risk Solution Experienced Associate at PwC’s New York office. Katie’s research interests include financial accounting and corporate governance, with a focus on firms’ voluntary disclosure, individual investors, transparency, cybersecurity risk, information economics, and the role of information intermediaries.
