National Resource Center for Alaska Natives
The Alaska center was founded in 2003 at the University of Alaska, Anchorage. The staff of the center has been working over the years to develop and modify products such as a community-based needs assessment and service locator map to be inclusive of regional cultures and linguistics. The Alaska NRC has also gathered cultural value narratives from elders so that culturally appropriate health services can be developed to increase elder mental health and decrease the absence of respect (elder abuse) within the communities they serve.
