Mānoa Academic Merit Scholarship

The Mānoa Academic Merit Scholarship is an automatic scholarship for first-time, degree-seeking students who enroll at UH Mānoa the following Fall semester after high school graduation. Students must be enrolled for a full-time course load of UH Mānoa credits.

This scholarship is directly applied to tuition costs and will be disbursed into the student’s account approximately 10 days before the start of the semester.

Residency Status: Hawai’i resident

• Award Amount: $4,000/year (for 4 years)
• Applicant: Freshman
• GPA: 3.8
• Scholarship Application Deadline: Apply for Admission by January 5

Residency Status: Non-resident (including WUE)

• Award Amount: $2,000/year (for 4 years)
• Applicant: Freshman
• GPA: 3.8
• Scholarship Application Deadline: Apply for Admission by January 5

*Scholarship eligibility is determined when an Admissions Application is submitted. A separate scholarship application is not required.

Students who receive a New Warrior Scholarship are ineligible for the Mānoa Academic Merit Scholarship.

Renewal Criteria

Must maintain a cumulative 3.0 Mānoa GPA or greater.

Must enroll in and earn a minimum of 12 credits at UH Mānoa per Fall and Spring semesters.

International Merit Award Scholarship

The International Merit Award Scholarship is an automatic scholarship awarded to international students for each year of undergraduate study. This scholarship allows recipients to pay 150% of the University’s resident tuition rate. This scholarship will not be reflected in one’s MyUH Services Financial Aid Information. But rather, student tuition costs will be adjusted when registering for full-time courses.

Residency Status: International non-resident

• Award Amount: 150% of in-state tuition (valued at ~ $16,380 per year for each year of attendance
• Applicant: Freshman or transfer
• GPA: 3.3
• Scholarship Application Deadline: No deadline
