2024 – 2025 Professional Judgement (Dependent)

Priority Dates

Fall: November 15, 2024
Spring: April 17, 2025
All required documents must be submitted by this date.

The 2024-2025 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) uses your family’s 2022 calendar year income to determine your financial aid eligibility. Sometimes the information you provided may no longer accurately reflect your financial situation. If you or your family’s finances have changed since 2022 as reported on your 2024-2025 FAFSA, you can request to have your federal aid eligibility reevaluated by submitting a Financial Aid Appeal Form.

If your Student Aid Index (SAI) is -1500, you have already been offered the maximum amount of federal student aid. Do not request an appeal if your SAI is -1500.

Students selected for verification must complete the verification review process with ProVerifier before any professional judgement requests can be finalized.

Please be advised that the approval of an appeal and subsequent FAFSA changes do not guarantee a change in your eligibility or additional financial aid.

Conditions That May Be Considered:

  • Change in employment/reduction in income
  • Divorce/separation
  • Death of a spouse
  • Unusual medical expenses
  • One-time taxable payments/distribution

Possible Outcomes:

  • Appeal is approved but there is no change to aid. While your SAI may decrease, your aid eligibility may stay the same.
  • Appeal is approved and there is a change to your aid. If your aid eligibility changes we will revise your aid accordingly.
  • Appeal is denied. If it appears that your income has increased since 2022, your appeal may be denied to prevent an increase to your SAI and possible reduction in your aid.
