Question Set 3: Scientific Language in Your Daily Life Part II

In each of the statements below, the bold word(s) is used in a way that is not scientifically accurate. Identify how each of the bold words is used incorrectly. 

  1. It is a well-known fact that people who live in cities are smarter than people who live in rural areas.
  2. When I am riding in a car, I can feel myself moving forward a bit after the car has stopped. That is because Newton wrote the law of inertia to keep all objects in motion after they are already in motion.
  3. Scientists are able to write new facts as they conduct experiments.
  4. A law is more important than a theory, because a law is absolute, but a theory is not.
