Nice addition to Hoffman Apparatus demonstration

My students really enjoyed this lab and it is a nice supplement to the Hoffman Apparatus demonstration. The only challenges that I ran into were that a number of students had either batteries or alligator clips that were not working. We switched out different items to problem solve, but some groups never got their apparatus running.

Hi Leigh! We had the same problem with the alligator clips on Oahu! I'm not sure if this is the definite answer, but sometimes they don't make good contact. If you have time to test them, you could check for corrosion and maybe sand the contacts with very fine grain sandpaper. Hope that helps! Unfortunately, they might just be duds :(
