Grading and Credit / No Credit Grading Options

Please note that the deadline for choosing the Spring 2020 Credit / No Credit option has now passed.

One of the major concerns expressed by students and faculty for this unique semester is grading. We have now finalized a credit/no credit option for this semester, with the dual aims of being implementable and workable for students and faculty across our 10-campus UH System.

The Credit (CR) / No Credit (NC) Grading Option FAQs for students for the Spring 2020 semester is now available.

Computer and Internet Access

Students who do not have access to their own computers may use those available in campus libraries and computer labs. UH Online Innovation Center (UHOIC) and UH Information Technology Services will work with campus offices and others to ensure support for our students and faculty with particular needs.

April 9: Emergency grading policy during COVID-19 public health crisis and with the overwhelming support of our faculty and the Senate Executive Committee, UH Mānoa faculty have the option of waiving the requirement of a final exam during the final exam period.

Hamilton Library is open only for those with a UH ID card or East-West Center ID card, until further notice. The public can remotely access reference and research assistance via chat, email and telephone.

Beginning Thursday, March 19, the Student Success Center at Sinclair (the old Sinclair Library) is open only for those with a UH ID card or East-West Center ID card, until further notice, and open only during a reduced hours of operation schedule.

The UH System FAQs for Faculty and Advisors regarding Spring 2020 Grades only are now available.

Resources for Faculty

The university’s Information Technology Services has provided a number of COVID-19 Resources including information on teaching and learning remotely, working remotely, and video conferencing.

The UH Online Innovation Center (UHOIC) has created the Teaching During an Emergency website to assist during this transition. This website includes a Teaching During an Emergency Checklist for Faculty.

Your individual campuses will alert you to additional resources and training opportunities, and you may request more assistance by completing the request assistance form. Check the site for updated and additional resources and tools, and for opportunities to receive training via videos and workshops.
