Safety & Wellness Workshop

This session is typically offered at the beginning of each semester and includes information on how our students, faculty, and staff can remain active participants in campus safety. The Safety & Wellness Workshop is based on the dual concept of eliminating or minimizing opportunities for crime, while providing helpful guidance for students and employees to assume responsibility for the safety of themselves and others by taking common precautions. During this workshop, participants will:

  • Learn about services offered by DPS
  • Discuss campus safety tips for students, faculty, and staff
  • Learn about common crime prevention measures that can be taken to increase safety on campus
  • Engage with DPS staff to learn about campus safety

Throughout the academic year, UHM DPS offers these safety awareness presentations at New Student Orientation sessions, Student Housing resident orientation, community events, and to various other campus groups by request, including faculty/staff departments. If you don’t see any open sessions, please check back at the beginning of the next semester, as the Safety & Wellness workshops are typically offered in September and January. If you would like a session sooner, please see the information below for how to request a session for your department or group. In the meantime, we encourage you to participate in our Active Shooter Awareness & Response Training and our Conflict Resolution & De-escalation Workshop.
