On Monday, August 11, 2025 at approximately 1:30pm, a groping incident occurred near the UH Manoa Lower Campus entrance and subsequently reported to the Department of Public Safety. A UH Alumni stated that an unknown male individual was following her as she walked on Waialae Avenue. As the victim approached the Lower Campus entrance near Waialae Avenue and Kalele Road, the suspect sped up and grabbed the victim’s buttocks. After the assault, the suspect turned and walked away.   

The suspect is described as a male individual in his 20’s – 30’s, approximately 5’04” to 5’05” in height, wearing a sleeveless gray shirt and basketball shoes without laces.

Responsibility is with the perpetrator, not the victim – no one deserves, asks for or provokes unwanted touching, physical assault, or sexual assault.

• E makaʻala – Be alert. Practice being aware and alert of your surroundings and remember that we cannot control everything around us. Every situation may be different, but being aware of warning signs can give you a head start.
• E mālama pono – Stay safe. For example, practice encouraging friends to travel in pairs or with trusted companions, especially at night or in remote areas.
