DPS recommends:

  • Trust your intuition – if a situation makes you feel uncomfortable or unsafe, choose an alternative.
  • Encourage friends to travel in pairs or with trusted companions, especially at night or in remote areas.
  • Download our campus safety app, Mānoa Guardian!  The app allows users to call or text DPS in an emergency. The safety timer feature allows users to have a “virtual security escort” wherever they go – simply set the timer and deactivate it when you arrive at your destination. If the timer expires before it is deactivated, DPS will respond to your location immediately.  To learn more, visit: or search for “Rave Guardian” in your app store.
  • UH Mānoa has a variety of resources for counseling, advocacy, and support both on and off campus.  For a list of these resources, please visit:
  • If you feel that you or others are in danger, or to report suspicious, illegal, or unusual activity on campus, look for a blue light Emergency Call Box, call DPS at (808) 956-6911, or call HPD at 911.
