Critical Pakistan Studies — New Open-Access Journal from AIPS and CUP
AIPS is excited to announce the debut of Critical Pakistan Studies, a new open-access journal published with the support of Cambridge University Press. Critical Pakistan Studies will publish primary source interpretive research that, in addition to Pakistan and Pakistanis, tackle broader interdisciplinary issues. The journal’s interdisciplinary approach pushes beyond the nation-state, security, Islam, extremism, and other topics that narrowly define the study of Pakistan. It will analyze, discuss, and seek to understand the varied and multi-layered contexts that constitute Pakistan and its people (both past and present and in South Asia and the wider world).
The journal is in affiliation with the Centre d’Etudes de l’Inde et de L’Asie du Sud–Center for South Asian Studies and the University of Exeter South Asia Centre. The journal is now accepting submissions for the inaugural issue which will be published in June 2023 in celebration of AIPS’s 50th anniversary. The J. Watumull Scholarship for the Study of India, UHM
The J. Watumull Scholarship for the Study of India provides support for University of Hawai`i undergraduate or graduate students with focused and well-developed proposals to study for a minimum of two months in India.

Jagdish P. Sharma Memorial Scholarship, UHM
This department is currently accepting applications with a deadline of March 1, 2022.
The scholarship assists graduate students enrolled in the Colleges of Arts, Languages & Letters (CALL) or the College of Social Sciences (CSS) at UH Manoa who are pursuing studies on the South Asia region and its people. Funds shall be used for costs associated with attendance (tuition, books, fees, etc.). Average award amount: three awards annually of $5,000 each.

The Global South Award
Established to recognize the work done by a scholar from the Global South and whose scholarly contribution is focused on the relevant countries, regions and themes. The award also recognizes a cumulative body of work. Application deadline: 1 March 2023

UROP coordinates and promotes opportunities for undergraduate students across ALL DISCIPLINES at UH Mānoa to engage in faculty-mentored research and creative work.
Students from ALL DISCIPLINES are encouraged to apply for the following funding opportunities:
- Entering Research and Creative Work (ERC) Funding (up to $3,000 per individual for up to two semesters) – Due 5pm, April 20, 2023
- Project Funding (up to $5,000 per individual, $10,000 per group) – Due 5pm, March 3, 2023
- Presentation Funding (up to $2,000 per individual, $5,000 per group) – prior to the event date on a rolling deadline (three months in advance strongly recommended)

AIBS Professional Development Fellowships for Bangladeshi Scholars
The American Institute of Bangladesh Studies is pleased to announce Professional Development Fellowship for Bangladeshi scholars working at one of the AIBS partner universities in Bangladesh. As visiting fellows, selected Bangladeshi scholars will work with U.S. faculty members at their host universities to develop research agenda, utilize library facilities, and receive hands-on training on academic writing and publication.The application deadline is Friday, March 3, 2023, 11:59 pm U.S. Eastern Time

The Asian Studies Center at the University of Pittsburgh invites applications for a one-year renewable postdoctoral fellowship in Jain Studies beginning in August 2023. The Bhagwan Vasu Pujya Postdoctoral Fellowship provides support for an early career scholar whose work contributes to an understanding of Jain philosophy as an innovative point of reference for interdisciplinary research.

The American Institute of Pakistan Studies – Pakistan Director Position
This position provides leadership, oversight, and management of AIPS’s overseas office(s) in Pakistan in alignment with its mission, governance (President, Officers, Executive Committee), and U.S. Director. It directs administrative oversight and academic curriculum development to ensure optimal integration of the institute’s activities for Pakistan-based participants and its U.S.- based members and governance. It also ensures that resource allocation aligns with AIPS’s mission and the primary objectives of its programs. The position involves managing a team of professionals who support the institute per its by-laws.

Center Manager, M.S. Chadha Center for Global India, Princeton University
The Center Manager of the M.S. Chadha Center for Global India (CGI) of the Princeton Institute for International and Regional Studies (PIIRS) works directly with the CGI Director to implement the Center’s strategic plan, overseeing personnel, financials, communications (including the Center’s website), events, short-term and yearlong visitors, and education efforts, including programs being designed for implementation in India. This position offers a unique opportunity to work with a fast-growing center and help develop a broad range of programs and activities focused on global India themes.

Postdoctoral Associate in South Asian Studies (Humanities and Social Sciences) South Asian Studies Council of The MacMillan Center, Yale University
The South Asian Studies Council (SASC) at the MacMillan Center invites applications for a post-doctoral associate position at Yale University for AY 2023-2024. Candidates must have research and teaching experience relevant to modern and contemporary South Asia, in the humanities or social sciences. All applicants should have in-depth knowledge of at least one SA-related language and fluency in English; and must have completed the Ph.D. by the time of appointment. The post-doctoral associate will teach one course in each of two terms related to their interests, pursue their own research, and participate in the activities of SASC.

The Department of Asian and Asian American Studies at Stony Brook University invites applications and nominations for the Nirmal K. and Augustina Mattoo Endowed Chair in Classical Indic Humanities, beginning Fall 2023. The goal of the Mattoo Chair is to advance research in and promote a better appreciation of the contributions to human knowledge made by systems of knowledge having their origin or major development in Classical India. For this appointment, we are looking for an outstanding scholar in: art, aesthetics, classics, cultural anthropology, intellectual history, languages, literatures, linguistics, theories of mind, or religious studies.
