Tiffany Taira was born and raised in Lahaina, Maui. She works as a Director of Photography and Editor in all forms of production from narrative, documentary, and music videos. She has won awards in cinematography for her work on the narrative short films Play by Play (2011) and Market St. (2015). Recently, she has worked with Emmy Award-winning director Amanda Pope on her film, Two Sides of Survival.
Tiffany spent ten years at Pixar Animation Studios, she co-founded Pixar’s Internal Video Production Team, and served as the Director of Photography and Manager within Pixar University and later the Creative Content Department. She and her team created over 3,000 videos for Pixar’s filmmaking community.
Her work on The Science Behind Pixar exhibition video will be screened for the next decade at major museums worldwide. She also created videos for Pixar in a Box and Imagineering in a Box, free educational online video courses that promote a series of learning tutorials that demonstrate how math, science, and the arts are a vital part of the everyday work put into the creative process.
Tiffany has a Bachelor’s degree with Distinction in Art – Studio Painting and Drawing from the University of Hawai’i at Mānoa. She received her MFA in Film and Television Production, specializing in Cinematography and Editing, from the University of Southern California.
