On September 21, 2025, the Center for Chinese Studies co-sponsored the annual China National Day Celebration banquet at the Jade Dynasty Seafood Restaurant, organized by more than 30 local Chinese community organizations. This year’s event marked the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and brought together over 220 guests for an evening of cultural exchange and community fellowship.
In addition to a festive banquet dinner, attendees enjoyed a colorful lion dance performance and cultural showcases highlighting Chinese traditions and artistry. The program reflected the vibrancy of Hawai‘i’s Chinese community and its enduring ties with China.

CCS was honored to be recognized as a Gold Sponsor of the event. Faculty, staff, and university leaders joined in the celebration, including CALL Dean Peter Arnade, UH Chief Officer of Global Engagement Brent White, International Partnership Director Xiaoxin (Ivy) Mu, American Studies Department Chair Elizabeth Colwill, CCS Executive Committee members Hong Jiang, Jonathan Pettit, and Jing Guo, CCS Acting Director Baoyan Cheng, Associate Director Ni Zhang, and Academic Support Specialist Adriana Choi.
