Update your resume/cover letter

Make sure your resume and/or cover letter are up to date with your latest work experiences and information. If you’re having trouble with your resume or cover letter, check out our pocket workshop (link pocket workshop)! It includes helpful tips and examples that can help elevate your resume.

*Tip: If you plan on connecting with any employers/speakers, update your LinkedIn profile too!

Gather your portfolio samples/links

If you have any portfolio samples you want to share, make sure to have them all ready. If you’re sharing a website link to your portfolio, make sure it works and your content best represents you and the work you’re capable of doing. If you a few samples you want to share, just make sure each file doesn’t exceed the upload limit (50 GB on CareerEco).

Be ready to ask and answer questions

Career fairs are a great opportunity for you to network with professionals in the industry you want to work in. Don’t be afraid to ask questions to the employers! Try to create a list of questions you really want answered so you can get the most out of your Virtual Career Fair experience.

Also be ready to answer questions that employers may have for you. If you or the employer express interest, the employer may ask you a few questions to confirm your skills and determine fit. Here are some questions employers may ask you:

  • “Tell me about yourself.”
  • “Why are you interested in this position?”

Fix any technical issues BEFORE the event

Since this event will be held online, check your devices and wifi connection before the event. Make sure everything is up and running so you don’t have to worry about any technical issues during your time with the employers.

I hope these tips help you prepare for our Virtual Career Fair. Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there! This event is a great opportunity to connect with employers and learn from them.

Our Virtual Career Fair will be held on November 18, 2020 from 10 am-2 pm HST. Feel free to contact us if you have any questions. See you then!

Mahalo to our career counselor Naomi for providing information for this blog post!
