Suzie is the new Vice President of PRSSA after serving as the Co-Development of Professional Development during the Spring 2020 semester. Her role in PRSSA has given her opportunities to network and learn from PR professionals that will help her in this role.
Suzie also works at a local non-profit organization, Boys & Girls Club of Hawaii. Her experience with mentoring youth and seeing the impact nonprofits can make sparked her interest in the field. She also assists the organization with social media campaigns and marketing projects to engage their community members.
Jena Funakoshi is currently 21 years old, born and raised in Hawai’i. She is a senior at the University of Hawai’i at Mānoa majoring in Communications with a focus on Digital Marketing and International Communications. Jena has been working at the Mānoa Career Center as their Digital Content & Social Media Specialist since August 2018.
Jena previously served as the Director of Communications in the Hawai’i Student Entrepreneurs Club here at UH Mānoa to further her interest in entrepreneurism and marketing. Growing up with a successful entrepreneurial mother, she early on learned about owning a business and the importance of marketing. With this new day and age, Jena is leaning more toward social media and online digital marketing.
Throughout Jena’s college career, she has experienced three study abroad trips traveling all throughout Japan where she fell in love with learning about different cultures and meeting new friends from around the world. This sparked her interest in wanting to start a career in International Communications so she will be able to travel around the world.
