Kimi Kondo-Brown, the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs of the College, is Professor of East Asian Languages & Literatures. She has published books and book chapters with such publishers as Cambridge University Press, John Benjamins, Routledge, and Wiley-Blackwell. She has also published numerous research articles in refereed journals such as The Modern Language Journal, Language Learning, Language Testing, Linguistics & Education, International Journal of Bilingual Education and Bilingualism, Foreign Language Annals, The Canadian Modern Language Review, etc. She has delivered numerous presentations and talks, including keynote talks, at local, national, and international conference conferences. As faculty, she taught a wide variety of undergraduate and graduate courses at UHM. Her graduate courses include pedagogy, research methods, teaching methods/training, and graduate seminars. She has served as a chair or member of over 50 dissertation/thesis committees. She was born and grew up in Japan. She joined UHM in 1988 as faculty, and ever since, she has felt excitement and appreciation for being part of this linguistically and culturally diverse community.
