Conducting Assessment to Support Teaching and Scholarship

This workshop is co-sponsored by the Assessment and Curriculum Support Center and Center for Teaching Excellence.

Teaching faculty, staff, and graduate teaching assistants are invited to use powerful program assessment tools (e.g., student learning outcomes, curriculum maps, signature assignments, rubrics) to (a) enhance teaching; (b) collaborate with colleagues; (c) pursue scholarship in teaching and learning; and (d) articulate their contribution to teaching and learning in their tenure, promotion, and contract renewal applications.

Participants will:

  • Reflect on ways to use student learning outcomes, the program curriculum map, signature assignment, and rubrics to enhance teaching.
  • Learn to reflect on their assessment efforts and effective ways to describe it in their contract renewal and tenure and promotion documents.
  • Explore scholarship in teaching, learning, and assessment through the national Assignment Library and Learning Improvement projects.
