Goals 1 through 4 are the same for ALL BBA students.

Objectives listed under Goal 5 vary by major.

Objectives for MIS are Listed below

MIS Objective 1: Students can write programs that involve use of variables, expressions, branching, loops, arrays, and functions [Assessed in ITM 352]

Rubrics:              0 = Can not write a functional program involving, expressions, branching, loops

1 = Can write functional programs involving specific examples of expressions, branching, loops, arrays, and functions in a directed setting.

2 =  Can creatively apply and combine basic programming techniques to address a variety of programming problems.

MIS Objective 2: Students can conceptualize, plan, design, and implement a basic application from basic requirements [Assessed in ITM 353]

Rubrics            0 = Can not build basic application

1 = Can build e-service application involving user registration, login, formatted display of products/services/activities, user interaction (e.g. selection of products), processing of user input (e.g. data validation)

2 = Can build e-service application with sophisticated features such as shopping carts, security, concurrent users that share data, and data persistence

MIS Objective 3:  Students can describe the major activities of software project management, including techniques for managing and documenting these activities. [Assessed in MGT 353]

Rubrics            0 = Not met: Can not describe the major activities of software project management.

1 = Can describe the major activities of software project management and can give simple examples of how to manage and document project activities.

2 = Demonstrates a thorough understanding of a wide range of techniques for project management.

MIS Objective 4: Students can properly determine what kind of database architecture to use for a given problem, considering costs and benefits. [Assessed in ITM 354]

Rubrics            0 =  Can not choose an appropriate database architecture.

1 =  Can choose an appropriate database architecture given a well-defined, modest sized problem.

2 =  Can analyze a complex problem, evaluate alternative architectures, and justify the choice of one architecture.

MIS Objective 5:  A student can properly determine what kind of network design/architecture to use for a given problem, considering costs and benefits. [Assessed in ITM 431]

Rubrics            0 = Cannot choose an appropriate network design/architecture

1 = Can choose an appropriate network design/architecture given a well-defined, modest sized problem.

2 = Can analyze a complex problem, evaluate alternative architectures, and justify the choice of one architecture.

MIS Objective 6: Students can properly describe key characteristics of IT management functions in businesses and firms. [Assessed in ITM 366]

Rubrics            0 = Cannot describe key characteristics.

1 = Can describe several key characteristics.
