The History Department assessment committee spent academic year 2009-10 instituting and beginning to implement a long-range assessment plan for the undergraduate program. We strategized for the future on assessing the graduate program, but put that project off until 2010-1.
This fall, this project got underway. Most importantly, we gained faculty approval to assess the graduate program. This necessitated a change to our departmental manual, a process which required a secret ballot vote. In so doing, we also voted to expand the committee from 5 to 6 members to deal with the additional workload. This measure also passed.
Our goals for the rest of this year are to finalize our SLOs, draw a curriculum map, and create a long-range assessment plan. Wish us luck!
