8) Briefly explain the assessment activities that took place.

BA students performance in Astr 300 and 300L were analyzed by the instructors.  We discovered that astronomy BA students are not progressing to a satisfactory level on PLOs 1 and 2.  We modified course requirements to strengthen students foundational knowledge (PLO 1) and increase their math skills (PLO 2).

15) Please briefly describe how the program used the results.

1.  Course content change.  Instructors teaching Astr 300/300L revised content to focus on foundational knowledge in addition to technical skills.

2.  Change prerequisites to increase level of math skills at time students take 300/300L (PLO 2).

3. In process of adding Astr 110 as prerequisite to Astr 210 so students will have broad grounding in astronomy before embarking on upper-level courses.

Two students in program had national recognition for research accomplishments.
