The faculty involved in administering TPSS graduate programs put all of their efforts into the merger of the TPSS and PEPS undergraduate academic programs into a new Tropical Agriculture and the Environment (TAE) BS degree program, including 5 areas of specialization, and did not take up any other academic issues. The new TAE BS degree program is administered by a Curriculum Committee composed of instructional faculty from both the TPSS and PEPS departments. The TPSS Curriculum Committee spent allof its time on getting this merger approved and did not take up any other academic matters.
That may not be a very good justification, but it is the factual truth.
