11) What was learned from the results?

The overwhileming positive assessment results from student participants, peer leaders, and parents at the 3-day orientation provided solid evidence for continuing the program in future semesters. Students came away each day with valuable information, they bonded with one another over the three days, and most students repeatedly said that they were so excited to be a part of the school and couldn't wait for the semester to begin.

12) State how the program used the results or plans to use the results. Please be specific.

SHORT TERM: We will continue to assess how we can improve the program by asking participants to become future peer leaders in the program.

LONG TERM: We will need to monitor the rate of students who attended the orientation and their persistence to graduation with a degree in SOEST. Through exit interviews we may be able to  determine whether the program had a role in peristency.

13) Reflect on the assessment process. Is there anything related to assessment procedures your program would do differently next time? What went well?

We are pleased with these initial results and will continue with our current practice for at least 3-4 years so that we may be able to decipher  trends and/or inconsistencies. At that time, we will re-evaluate the practices to improve.

14) If the program did not engage in assessment activities, please explain.
Or, if the program did engage in assessment activities, please add any other important information here.
