3) Provide the program's activity map or other graphic that illustrates how program activities/services align with program student outcomes. Please upload it as a PDF.

Activity Map File(s) from 2014:

4) Did your program engage in any program assessment activities between June 1, 2013 and September 30, 2014? (e.g., establishing/revising outcomes, aligning activities to outcomes, collecting evidence, interpreting evidence, using results, revising the assessment plan, creating surveys, etc.)

Yes
No (skip to question 14)

5) For the period between June 1, 2013 and September 30, 2014: State the assessment question(s) and/or assessment goals. Include the student outcomes that were targeted, if applicable.

All five SOs were targeted. In addition to the assessment tools shown in the survey map in question 3, CTAHR students and faculty were asked the following questions in two separate surveys.

For Students (rate as Strongly Disagree, Disagree, Undecided, Agree, Strongly Agree):

  • I am able to communicate orally in an effective manner.
  • I have competent analytical and problem solving skills.
  • I am able to interact with others effectively and appropriately.
  • I have applied my learning in real-world situations.
  • I have had cultural experiences that have increased my global perspective.

Also for Students, the following open-ended questions:

  • If you have applied your learning in real world situations, please share what those experiences have been.
  • If you have had cultural experiences that have increased your global perspective, please share what those have been.

For Faculty (rate as <20%, 20-40%, 40-60%, 60-80%, >80%):

  • What percentage of CTAHR seniors approaching graduation are able to communicate orally in an effective manner?
  • What percentage of CTAHR seniors approaching graduation are able to analyze and solve practical problems typically encountered in the professional workforce?
  • What percentage of CTAHR seniors approaching graduation are able to interact with others effectively and appropriately?
  • What percentage of CTAHR seniors approaching graduation have sought real-world learning experiences?
  • What percentage of CTAHR seniors approaching graduation have sought experiences that increase their global perspective?

6) State the type(s) of evidence gathered to answer the assessment question and/or meet the assessment goals that were given in Question #5.

Evidence gathered are bolded below.

Interviews or surveys of students and faculty participating in study abroad and other organized international programs.

Additionally, students and faculty were surveyed to assess the extent to which all five SOs were being met.

7) State how many persons submitted evidence that was evaluated. If applicable, please include the sampling technique used.

Performance in CTAHR Student Research Symposium: Evaluation forms of ~75 judges of undergraduate and graduate oral and poster presentations were reviewed. CTAHR's Associate Dean for Academic and Student Affairs organizes the Student Research Symposium.

Performance by CTAHR Student Ambassadors in classroom presentations and during training: CTAHR's Instruction and Student Support Specialist leads the training program. Classroom presentations are normally delivered by two students or by a student and CTAHR's Instruction and Student Support Specialist.

Performance of students in project-based activities such as FSHN students working on new product development projects and FDM Senior Fashion Show: Faculty advisors for both projects provide reports on the activities.

Attitudes and experiences reported by students participating in study abroad and other organized international programs and faculty/staff involved in those programs.  This year, for the first time, CTAHR's Instruction and Student Support Specialist led an international voluntary service project involving four CTAHR students.

Electronic surveys were completed by 52 students and 21 faculty members.

10) For the assessment questions/goals stated in Question #5, summarize the actual results.

Summary of survey responses is attached as Activity Map File #2 in Question 3.

IN THE FUTURE IT WOULD BE HELPFUL IF ATTACHMENTS COULD BE UPLOADED HERE.

11) What was learned from the results?

Overall, CTAHR students are meeting expectations.  Not surprisingly, we noticed that, overall, students believe they are achieving SOs more successfully than do the faculty.

12) State how the program used the results or plans to use the results. Please be specific.

Results will be used to improve our program.  This year, ASAO began an international voluntary service experience for CTAHR students.  This was quite successful and will be continued and possibly expanded in future years.

13) Reflect on the assessment process. Is there anything related to assessment procedures your program would do differently next time? What went well?

We will continue to seek-out more objective, direct measurements of SOs.  We might develop rubrics to strengthen the assessment process. ASAO surveys all graduating seniors.  We plan to revise our exit survey to gather additional information on these SOs.

14) If the program did not engage in assessment activities, please explain.
Or, if the program did engage in assessment activities, please add any other important information here.

We do not have additional important information to add here.
