Teaching Oral Communication Skills in Online Courses

Brief Description: This workshop is for any faculty member interested in teaching Oral Communication skills or who is wondering how to pivot teaching oral communication to an online environment. A panel of UH Mānoa faculty will share a variety of strategies for incorporating oral communication in online courses.
Civic Engagement During Pandemic: A Discussion Series (Repeated session of 7/8)

Brief Description: Campus leaders in civic engagement invite instructional faculty and staff to learn and share challenges, regulations, strategies, and possibilities to consider when planning civic engagement opportunities for their students in the upcoming semesters.
Culminating Assignments for Assessment and Learning Improvement
Date and Time: Monday, July 27, 12:00-1:30
Target audience: instructional faculty/staff in Social Sciences. However, all faculty are invited; the general principles are applicable to all fields.
Brief Description: Culminating assignments can come at the end of unit, a semester, or a degree program. In this interactive online workshop, instructional faculty and staff will use assignment design principles, examples of excellent assignments, and an assignment design template to design or revise their culminating assignments so that they can serve as a meaningful and efficient assessment tool for the ultimate purpose of improving student learning.
How Chairs/Academic Leaders Can Support Student Learning via Assessment

Brief description: In this interactive online session, we propose several ways that department and committee leaders can support student learning via assessment and engage participants in a discussion on challenges and new possibilities for carrying out meaningful and manageable program-level learning outcomes assessment. Participants will take away immediately implementable strategies to initiate or strengthen their collaborative program assessment effort for the purpose of program improvement.
Science Education for New Civic Engagement and Civic Responsibility (SENCER) Summer Institute
In addition, faculty at our center will also present at the virtual Science Education for New Civic Engagement and Civic Responsibility (SENCER) Summer Institute during the following two 90-minute interactive workshops, designed specifically for instructional faculty and staff in the STEM fields.
