At the beginning of the Fall 2025 semester, four MAIA students, Anita Aravena, Ashlynn Alester, Amanda Spincola, and Haider Rifaat Hussain, were awarded $3,000 grants by the Center for Indo-Pacific Affairs to write white papers on deterrence in the Indo-Pacific.
Anita and Haider’s papers will focus on deterrence and its connection with multilateral and IGO organizations, while Ashlynn and Amanda’s papers will focus on the connection between deterrence and diplomacy.
They will each present their papers near the end of Fall 2025, and two of their papers will be selected for publication on the Center for Indo-Pacific Affairs’ website in the new year.
