Mission Statement
ARC services nurture holistic student growth toward self-actualization and enhance the student experience in supporting the development of independent, effective learners equipped with success-oriented strategies to achieve academic goals.
Program Overview
The overall purpose of the Academic Resource Center (ARC) is to help students grow, develop, and flourish in discovering their potential. More specifically, with a sensitivity to individual differences and utilizing a holistic approach, ARC facilitates student learning in order to ensure student success so as to provide a strong foundation to succeed in their chosen profession, thereby, generating a future path for them to contribute to the broader community, both locally and globally.
Learning Objectives
As a result of utilizing ARC services, students will:
1. Use appropriate study skills to achieve academic goals.
2. Learn how to adjust learning approaches to fit their individual learning needs.
3. Learn how to study effectively with others.
4. Use effective learning practices.
5. Use self-reliant learning behaviors.
6. Have a functional understanding of course content.
OUR SERVICES
Tutoring
– 1 on 1 tutoring by appointment (in-person/online)
– Nightly walk-in tutoring at the Housing Success Center
Academic Coaching
Individualized sessions to help students clarify and implement next steps in challenging situations that may occur on their academic journey including managing time and improving academic and self-management skills and studying skills. Learn more
Supplemental Instruction (SI)
Weekly study group facilitated by a student leader who attends the class sessions throughout the semester.
Wellness Program
The ARC Wellness program (open to students and staff) is composed of relatively simple practices to remove blockages on your academic journey. Whether these are physical, mental, emotional, relationship, or financial challenges or more, participating in these sessions can remove the bumps in your path to success. Supplement your weekly workout with practices that can be healing, rejuvenating, and preventive. The ARC Wellness gym is online, 15-30 minutes on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 7pm. Attend one or all three each week. If these times do not fit your schedule, make an appointment for Academic Coaching with Rosie and indicate Wellness Practice in the Appointment Comment section.
