A Kanaka ʻŌiwi poet-scholar, Brandy Nālani McDougall will discuss the intellectual practice of kaona in her book, Finding Meaning: Kaona and Contemporary Hawaiian Literature (University of Arizona Press, 2016) and read poetry from her new poetry manuscript, “These Islands.”
