KNOWLEDGE IS KEY

Everyone, no matter their age, can help support our kūpuna. Whether it’s knowing how to spot when an older adult might need help or where to find the right services, being informed helps everyone. It’s not just good for our elders, but for their caregivers and everyone around them too.

As people live longer and have different health needs, it’s really important for us to understand how aging works. This means we need to come up with new ideas and work together to help solve these challenges.

Since 1973, the Elderly Affairs Division (EAD) has been helping older people in Honolulu County live happy and independent lives in their homes and communities. This group works hard to make sure older adults, called kūpuna in Hawaiian, get the help and respect they deserve. They connect kūpuna with different services like help at home, meals, legal advice, rides, and support for caregivers. EAD also works with the University of Hawaiʻi Center on Aging to create this special webpage to help kūpuna and their families find what they need.
