Ruth O. Bingham, PhDDepartment Chair & Faculty Specialist
Raised in Kailua, Ruth lived in South America, Europe and the mainland before returning to Hawai’i to raise a family. She has five degrees (2 BAs, 2 MAs, and a PhD) in musicology and German, from UH-Manoa and Cornell University in New York.
She loves working in higher ed and helping students!
Kay grew up on the island of Hawaiʻi. She earned her BA in Journalism and Mass Communication from Drake University in Iowa. After teaching English in China for a year, Kay returned to the Midwest to earn her MA in English from Western Illinois University. She earned her PhD in Communication and Information Sciences with a focus in Social Informatics at UH Mānoa.
Kay enjoys walking and swimming, and loves to travel.
Nanette was born and raised in Hawai’i, with the exception of attending Kindergarten in Maryland. She has completed her AA in Liberal Arts from Kapi’olani Community College and transferred to UH Manoa to complete her BA in Psychology with a Certificate in Ethnic Studies and then to Chaminade University to earn a Master of Science in Counseling Psychology degree.
Nanette likes to travel and has been on a road trip from West Virginia to California; San Francisco; Holland and Germany.
Tracy ChagamiAcademic Advisor
Tracy was born and raised in Hawaii and grew up in MIlilani. Right after graduating from high school, she went on to complete her AA in Liberal Arts from Kap’iolani Community College and then transferred to UH West Oahu to earn her BA in Social Sciences (with a Concentration in Psychology). Soon after that, she completed a Master of Education in Educational Technology degree at UH Manoa.
She loves doing outdoorsy things. In the past she has gone hiking at midnight in Alaska, played with a Beluga whale, walked on a glacier, and petted/fed deer at Nara Park (Japan). In her spare time, she likes to spend time with her nieces and nephews and go on adventures with her dog.
Greg HarrisStudy Abroad Advisor
Greg was raised on a small farm in Ohio. He has a BA in psychology from Wittenberg University. While in undergrad, he studied abroad in France. He went on to complete his MS degree in Student Affairs and Higher Education at Indiana State University. Greg has had 11+ years of experience working in residence/student life and advising at various public and private institutions. He is eager to meet and work with students, and to encourage them to get involved on campus in activities including study abroad programs.
Greg enjoys spending time with his spouse and their 2 dogs, going to the beach, and doing home renovation projects. He loves to travel and wants to see as much of the world as possible!
Advising Center Support Staff
Heather was born and raised on Oahu. She received her AA in Liberal Arts from Kapiolani Community College and her BA in American Studies from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Growing up on the Windward side of Oahu, Heather developed an admiration for country living which includes a love of animals and being surrounded by lots of greenery. Her future aspirations are to go back to school to pursue her Masters Degree and to do more traveling.
Her quote of inspiration: Cat ladies are not crazy, they are ingenious fanatics.
Carolina was born, raised and educated on the Island of O’ahu. She is an alumnus of both Hawai’i Loa College and Hawai’i Pacific University and earned her BA in Liberal Arts. Her past careers have been in customer service in the hotel and travel tourism industry; private corporate administration; and military service in the US Navy and US Coast Guard.
Carolina loves traveling and hopes to visit those places still on her dream list-to-see.
XiaolinStudent Fiscal Assistant
Xiaolin was born in ShenZhen, China and is raised in Honolulu, Hawaii. She went to Roosevelt High School and is currently majoring in Civil Engineering. Her educational aspirations include going to graduate school that would aid her in becoming a Structural or Environmental engineer one day. Xiaolin enjoys watching sunsets, telling jokes, and planning trips.
Manoa Peer Advisors (MPA's)
Juliana is from Yigo, Guam. She is currently pursuing a B.A in Psychology and a minor in Biology. Juliana plans to attend medical school and become a pediatrician. She hopes to also become a part of the organization “Doctors without Borders”. Her main goal in life is to give back to her family, her island and it’s people, and the community in general. Her hobbies include spending time with family and friends, reading, volunteering, and listening to music while scrolling through social media.

Welcome Desk Student Assistants
Born and raised on Oahu, Ross went to Kahuku High and Intermediate School. He lived in Japan for the past 5 years and came back to pursue a 2nd bachelor’s degree in Japanese. He wants to continue on to the graduate program in Japanese and eventually teach Japanese at the university level.
His hobbies are reading, watching movies, playing games, and spending time with his family.
Megan is from Los Angeles, California. She studied abroad in Italy and has traveled extensively around Europe and South Americas. She is majoring in Communications and minoring in Political Science. She has plans to one day own her own health food business/ Coffee shop on the mainland.
Megan’s hobbies include going to the beach, surfing, photography, visiting museums, cooking and being a dog mom.

Justin is from the windward side of Oahu. He graduated from Kamehameha Schools Kapalama. He is majoring in Natural Resources and Environmental Management and plans to do non-profit sustainability education.
