| Project Title | |
| Historical texts about ice and snow in Hawaii | |
| Project Description | |
| Early expeditioners reported perennial snow on Mauna Kea and abundant ice on Mauna Loa. Today, conditions on both summits are drier. The changes may represent a systematic shift in climate since the end of the Little Ice Age. A thorough survey of historical texts may reveal the state of snow and ice on Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa in the 18th and 19th century. |
